Adiel A. Akplogan is Vice President for Technical Engagement at ICANN, with more than 25 years of experience in the ICT field, including over two decades focused on Internet technologies. He previously served as CEO of AFRINIC (the African Network Information Centre), IT Director for Symbol Technologies in France, and Director of New Technology at CAFÉ Informatique in Togo. Widely recognized as a pioneer in Africa’s Internet development, Adiel helped launch some of the continent’s first private Internet service providers and has been a driving force in technical capacity building across the region.
Throughout his career, Adiel has contributed to numerous global and regional organizations, including ICANN, the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF-MAG), the African Union’s AXIS program, AfNOG, AIS, and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie. He also served on the Executive Council of the Number Resource Organization (NRO) for a decade.
Adiel holds a graduate degree in electrical engineering and a master’s in E-Business and New Technology Management. He lives and works in Montréal, Canada.
