Geoff Huston is the Chief Scientist at APNIC, the Regional Internet Registry for the Asia Pacific. He has worked in the Internet industry for the past 35 years. He was responsible for building the first national Internet platform in Australia in the early 1990s, AARNet, for the higher education and research sector, and then worked for Telstra where he designed their national and international Internet platforms. He then joined APNIC in 2005 to concentrate on research programs. He is an active member of the IETF, and has authored 44 Request for Comments (RFCs). He was a member of the Internet Architecture Board, and has chaired a number of Working Groups. His current research interests include measurement, routing, security, and the intersection between economics, public policy and technology.
